BRIDGET AND JEREMY

Welcome to our wedding webpage! We cannot wait to celebrate with you in October here in sunny San Diego. Thank you for being a part of this fantastic time in our life together.

THE STORY OF US

BRIDGET BARRY AND JEREMY PATTERSON

2011
January15

When We Met

Bridget and Jeremy “officially” meet out at a bar crawl one night, even though they’d each noticed each other around the Under Armour offices where they both worked. Bridget insults Jeremy’s scarf, Jeremy insults Bridget’s choice to call it a night early, the future is set in motion.

February30

When We Became Friends

Bridget and Jeremy develop their friendship via their shared love of ice hockey, pizza, the Whole Foods salad bar, sarcasm, and trips to the dog park so that Mugsy and Ronin can ruthlessly terrorize each other.

March19

When We Became More

Bridget and Jeremy start dating officially on Bridget’s birthday (once Jeremy finally arrived at the correct bar after cabbing to the wrong one across town).

2012
January10

Moving In

Bridget, Jeremy, Mugsy and Ronin move to a house further north of Baltimore in the Roland Park area. Bridget now has to drive longer to get to her beloved Towson Hot Bagels.

December26

Moving West

Bridget accepts a job at Petco’s corporate headquarters in – you guessed it – beautiful San Diego, California and makes the move a month in advance of the rest of the clan. Bridget returns to DC for Christmas, then everyone loads into the Suburban for the 4 day drive back across the country.

January2014

Moving Forward

Bridget knows the proposal is coming, becomes impatient (when is she not, really?) and blows the whole surprise. Jeremy kindly puts Bridget’s needs before his own and proposes on a Saturday night in their living room while the dogs yawn on the couch.

THE BRIDE'S SIDE

THE BRIDESMAIDS

bride's maid
Heather Kaufman (Matron of Honor)

Heather and Bridget met while working at Abercrombie & Fitch. Heather developed a “girl crush” (her words) on Bridget while taking one of Bridget’s RMS training classes. Eventually, Bridget moved back into merchandising and into the desk directly across from Heather, and proceeded to think that Heather was either mute or hated her (or, possibly, both) as she never spoke to Bridget. It eventually became clear that this was due to her girl crush (again, Heather’s words). Bridget and Heather had a great time in Columbus going out on dates together to the random Greek restaurant on Hamilton with the belly dancer Heather loved (read: hated) and spotting the Batmobile all around Columbus. Eventually, the East Coast called Bridget back, but not before Bridget set Heather up with her now-husband Jared at Bridget’s going away party (you’re both welcome). Heather and Jared were visiting Bridget in Baltimore the night that Bridget and Jeremy started dating, and they gave their stamp of approval. They are both in the wedding party, which Bridget and Jeremy couldn’t be happier about.

bride's maid
Katie Gerwin (Maid of Honor)

Katie and Bridget officially met as freshmen in high school at Georgetown Visitation, but they suspect their paths crossed earlier whether at St Luke’s, the Hamlet, or Great Falls Basketball Camp. Their friendship was based on many things, among them a love for sugar (Katie has since, admirably, kicked that habit), diet soda (that one too), and books (both girls are still obsessed with that one, but at least it’s a good one). Bridget and Katie carpooled to school for a while, which Bridget remembers as her favorite time of the day, even if Katie was normally comatose for the entire ride. Inexplicably, Sisqo’s masterpiece “Thong Song” came on the radio almost every time they were together, and Bridget remembers Katie’s dance to that song to this day (it’s entirely G rated). They were both excited when Bridget moved to Baltimore (where Katie lives) to work for Under Armour and they could see each other more frequently! Katie bore witness as Bridget and Jeremy’s relationship developed in Baltimore and has been out to visit on the West Coast already, supplementing the girls’ marathon phone sessions and epic games of phone tag.

bride's maid
Elizabeth Steel (Bridesmaid)

Bridget and Lizzy attended the same elementary and middle schools in McLean, VA, but given that Bridget was a year older and way too cool (and busy balancing the enormous bows she wore in her hair), they didn’t truly become friends until they pledged the same sorority at the University of Virginia. Elizabeth approached Bridget on their bid night and asked if she was indeed Bridget Barry from McLean, Virginia (she had since, thankfully, begun dressing herself and stopped wearing those bows, (sorry mom), so she was harder to recognize). Their shared history helped them immediately become close friends. Bridget especially loved the semester they lived in the sorority house together, which they passed playing Nintendo until 2 or 3 in the morning, eating entire wheels of brie and baguettes, and with Bridget napping (read: lurking) in Elizabeth’s bed while she was out of the house and, as a result, scaring anyone who walked into the room. Elizabeth currently owns her own business in Charlottesville – so if you’re ever there, be sure to stop by Darling on the Downtown Mall!

bride's maid
Annie Mallett (Bridesmaid)

Annie and Bridget were also sorority sisters in college and got to live together in the house for Bridget’s fourth year. Annie withstood Bridget’s constant attempts to bother/distract her while Annie was a third year and Bridget was a fourth year, both in the Comm School. Annie and Bridget have been lucky (and committed) enough to see each other frequently after school. They have run two half-marathons together (in Charlottesville and Baltimore) and supported each other remotely while each ran her first full marathon by herself (Bridget in Baltimore in 2011, Annie in the Marine Corps Marathon in 2013, much, much faster than Bridget could ever dream to race!). Annie married her husband Josh this past January in Charlotte and Bridget was so honored to stand by their side, and cannot wait until Annie is up there with her in October, while Josh sits in his designated seat holding the koala we’ve borrowed from the San Diego Zoo (just kidding…or am I?).

bride's maid
Meghan Barry (Bridesmaid)

Meghan is Bridget’s sister, and as a result, witnessed Bridget during all of the unbelievably awkward phases of her life, including the period of time where Bridget refused to respond to anything other than the name Crystal and was convinced that she could hypnotize people into letting her stay up later at night simply by turning her (inexplicably always-present) baseball cap around backwards and walking around them in a circle (it worked, but only because they couldn’t stop laughing). Meghan also attended the University of Virginia, paving the way for Bridget after her. Bridget and Jeremy are so happy to have their siblings standing up there with them on their big day!

bride's maid
Kristin Patterson (Bridesmaid)

Bridget met Jeremy’s sister Kristin a few months after Bridget and Jeremy started dating, and instantly knew she had found a friend. While there is some inherent rivalry as Kristin is a Hokie and Bridget, a Wahoo, the girls have been able to get past it in famous fashion to become close. Bridget feels so unbelievably lucky to get along so well with her future sister-in-law, and knows they would be friends even if they had just met via random circumstance. Kristin currently lives in Greensboro, Georgia where she is a firefighter and is studying to be an EMT.

THE GROOM'S SIDE

THE GROOMSMEN

groom man
Greg Fortelny (Best Man)

Greg and Jeremy met back in 2003 while interviewing for a job to serve hamburgers to pay their way through school. Instantly, the two became friends and connected through self-deprecating humor, poker, their love of philosophy, technology and a short-lived admiration for Miller High Life. Their friendship grew even greater while sharing an apartment outside of Washington D.C. following college. While Jeremy pursued a career in television, Greg continued his education at Georgetown University to earn his post-graduate degree and P.h.D. Despite the countless hours of studying and research, Greg has always found time to remain a true friend. Greg met Bridget for the first time while visiting Baltimore. He admired her ability to stand her ground and put Jeremy in check which immediately earned his blessing. Greg still resides in Washington D.C. and lives with his girlfriend Rhiana.

groom man
Aaron Jones (Groomsman)

Jeremy met Aaron their first year at Cal Poly when they both pledged Sigma Chi. The two moved in together their third year in school in the house they called “The Ranch.” They grew close over a love for all-things-DIY. Aaron has always impressed Jeremy with his ability to understand how things work – including friendship! (see what I did there?) Jeremy treasures his friendship with Aaron and considers him to be one of the best friends – and best people – Jeremy has ever known, and Bridget can’t help but agree. Bridget first met Aaron when she attended his wedding to his wife Amanda, and she and Jeremy can’t wait for it to come full circle at their own wedding this fall.

groom man
Jared Kaufman (Groomsman)

Jeremy met Jared the first night he and Bridget started dating. Jared is married to one of Bridget’s best friends, and the couple was in Baltimore visiting. Jeremy and Jared immediately bonded over their shared appreciation for beer, fixing up houses and old cars, and complaining about the fact that their significant others do not appreciate their love for vehicles that do not, in fact, run. Jared introduced Jeremy to the wonder that is sleeveless flannel shirts, and Bridget has been trying to un-introduce them ever since. The two couples have a great time together when visiting each other in California or Ohio, or meeting in a third location for some amateur snowboarding and professional drinking.

groom man
Johnny Francis (Groomsman)

Jeremy met the Prince of Chino when he pledged Sigma Chi in college. Johnny could be found freestyle rapping and breaking hearts all over Southern California. One of these things he still does, and Bridget has witnessed, the other, he happily stopped once he snagged his beautiful wife Bree. Johnny is a level-headed dude who can always see reason (except where his beloved Lakers are concerned) and can be relied upon to give great advice.

groom man
Jojy Mannanal (Groomsman)

The first time Bridget met Jojy, he turned to Johnny and said “You owe me 20 bucks, I told you Jeremy’s not gay.” Always the joker, Jojy’s quick wit and amazing sense of humor will get anyone laughing. Humor aside, Jojy is a loyal, thoughtful, and caring friend who can still always laugh at himself first. He and his wife Maria are expecting their first child this July and Bridget and Jeremy cannot wait to meet baby Manannal!

groom man
Andrew Patterson (Groomsman)

Andrew is Jeremy’s younger brother (and youngest sibling), and as such, suffered the wrath of Jeremy’s adolescent aggression until recent years. The two have only just stopped assuming defensive body language when in the same room. Andrew is offbeat, funny, and incredibly smart. He is a Sergeant in the United States Army and is currently stationed in Washington state with his wife Christine. Bridget and Jeremy are so happy to have 2 other members of the Patterson family on the best coast.

groom man
Kevin Barry (Groomsman)

Jeremy met Bridget's older brother Kevin a few months after he started dating Bridget, when her family came up to Baltimore to support her as she ran her first marathon. Jeremy and Kevin share an interest in graphic design and thus are able to have entire conversations of which Bridget understands not a single word. Kevin currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri, where he enjoys hanging out with friends and feeding the ducks in the pond near his house.

THE HOUNDS

ANIMALS OF ALL KINDS

groom man
Ronin W. Beagleton (Best Beagle)

Jeremy adopted Ronin (then Buttercup) from a Beagle Rescue group when he was living in Virginia. Ronin immediately began his reign of terror in Jeremy’s house before finally calming down about the time he turned 2 years old. Ronin’s various talents include sleeping, feigning deafness, napping, dozing, catching a wink, ignoring commands, burrowing, howling exclusively at inappropriate times, and eating.

groom man
Mugsy Bones (Best Mutt)

Mugsy came into Bridget’s life shortly after she arrived in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a homeless pup, living a rough life on the mean streets of Baltimore, and she knew she had to make him hers. Our best guess is that he’s part basset hound, part Doberman, but we know for sure that he’s 100% loyal, loving, and full of snuggles. His various talents include speak, sit, lay down, roll over, and up!

THE OFFICIANT
groom man
Paul Soper

Paul was part of Bridget’s training class at Abercrombie & Fitch directly out of college. They grew close over their four years at A&F together over their shared love of television and Harry Potter. Bridget forgave Paul when he left A&F prior to her departure, but only because he was leaving to attend Darden at the University of Virginia. Paul is a fantastic friend and Bridget and Jeremy are honored that he has consented to perform their wedding ceremony!

WEDDING LOCATION

Ceremony Location

When Bridget and Jeremy first vacationed in San Diego, they were lucky enough to stay at the Hotel del Coronado, and they have loved it ever since. The Del is not only a gorgeous historical site, but it is also full of happy memories for Bridget and Jeremy, and they are so excited to celebrate their wedding there with you this October. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outside on the vista walk... with views of the hotel and the ocean, then the party will move into the Grand Ballroom for eating, drinking, and dancing the night away! Bars & Booze

San Diego is synonymous with craft beers. From hoppy IPAs to fruit-infused heffs, San Diego is home to more than 30 craft breweries. You can even find some strange brews on cask nights in some dark alley pubs. Our personal recommendation is the "Habanero Sculpin" at the Ballast Point tasting room. We dare you to try more than one...

attraction 1
Ballast Point Tasting Room

2215 India St

San Diego, CA 92101

Their newly opened tasting room is a place where you can try every variety this micro-brewery has to offer. Give the "Sculpin IPA" a shot or Jeremy's favorite beer ever, "Victory At Sea" Porter. Their limited but creative food menu has plenty to offer as well.

attraction 2
Stone Brewery - Liberty Station

2816 Historic Decatur Rd #116

You could spend hours here! There’s multiple gardens to explore, great food to eat, and of course, delicious, local beers to taste. Bridget and I love to watch the planes departing from SAN at this location.
